Hi! I’m Dale, co-owner of Greenhouse in the Snow Canada. With my 25+ year career in horticulture, I know there is nothing like GISC for year-round growing! The feeling of entering our demonstration greenhouse in the dead of winter is incredible, when our veggies are still producing, and a flower is always blooming somewhere. Our early spring citrus bloom is a favorite of mine also. Our staff will tell you that I can’t resist a good nursery deal on exotic plants, pushing the limits of what we can grow in the greenhouse. I manage our manufacturing shop on-site in Armstrong BC, making sure each and every customer gets the highest quality product. Hello! I’m Chelsea, co-owner of Greenhouse in the Snow Canada. You’ve probably seen me gardening on our social media. Behind the scenes, I keep the office running, garden, give tours and technical support to customers. With my business background and homesteading lifestyle, I’m passionate about bringing our year-round growing solutions to Canadians! On our own farm, our demonstration greenhouse has allowed us to expand our homestead’s holistic foods. When I’m not working, you’ll find me taking care of my animals, preserving food, and connecting with my neighbours and local community. I’m Abby, sales and greenhouse manager at GISC. You’ll find me moving between the office, giving tours and gardening in one of my favourite places, our demonstration greenhouse! I grew up in Southeast Asia, so being surrounded by tropical plants in Canada is a dream come true. With my Permaculture Design Certificate and a research background, I love finding creative solutions for holistic, year-round greenhouse growing. I also love to travel the world, meeting new people and getting inspiration for the greenhouse! Our Company’s History
Over 35 years ago, retiree Russ Finch dreamed of growing oranges in the harsh prairies of Nebraska. By perfecting a unique greenhouse heated by low-grade geothermal and passive solar, he found a way to keep his greenhouse temperatures above freezing over winter—with extremely low operating costs! Gardeners around the world were inspired by Russ’ abundant tropical greenhouse in a cold climate. To meet the rising demand for four-season growing solutions, he began selling his greenhouses commercially in 2010. Since then, Greenhouse in the Snow has become synonymous with year-round growing in harsh conditions. There are now close to 900 greenhouses sold across North America and Europe.
In the spring of 2020, we licensed Greenhouse in the Snow in Canada. Since then, we have been manufacturing for Canadians at our shop in Armstrong BC! We use the highest quality Canadian steel and polycarbonate, and have engineered our kits for Canada’s harsh snow and wind loads. As our greenhouses have spread across the country, we’ve become the experts on year-round food security for gardeners, homesteaders and businesses.
Our demonstration greenhouse is in the farming community of Armstrong BC, situated on our small regenerative farm. With a year-round supply of herbs and vegetables as well as exotic plants like guava, papaya, citrus, figs, passionfruit, banana, ginger, dragonfruit, pomegranate, hibiscus, and flowers, we are continually planting and harvesting every day in the greenhouse — farm to table at its freshest!
